Terms of service

Effective 2026-10-19 · version 2.0

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms govern your use of the Thalius Hippocampus service (the Service), provided by Thalius AI AB, a Swedish limited company (organisation number 559528-5635, VAT SE559528563501), Slipgatan 5, 117 39 Stockholm, Sweden ("Thalius", "we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].

The Service means the Hippocampus web, desktop or mobile application, its REST API and MCP server, public chats a workspace publishes, and the Hippo Guide.

You accept these terms by confirming them when you register and when you sign in. Accepting an invitation to a workspace, connecting an app, publishing a public chat or paying requires the same confirmation. If you accept these terms for an organisation, you confirm that you may bind it, and "you" means that organisation. Every user accepts these terms personally and is responsible for their own use of the Service.

In these terms:

  • a workspace is a separate space for documents, members and billing;
  • the owner is the user who administers a workspace; a member is any other user of it;
  • a Paid Plan is any subscription other than Free;
  • credits are the unit in which usage is metered;
  • a connected app is software you connect to the Service through the API or the MCP server;
  • a public chat is a chat a workspace publishes for visitors who are not signed in;
  • Customer Content is defined in section 7.

2. The Service

Hippocampus is a memory layer for organisations. You upload or import documents; the Service reads them once, organises them into a structured knowledge base (a wiki of summaries anchored to source pages), and answers questions with citations to the passages each answer was generated from. Questions the documents cannot answer are refused rather than guessed.

We may improve and change the Service. We will not remove a core function of a Paid Plan during a paid period without the notice in section 14.

3. Plans

Plan What you get Price
Free One user, a workspace with default settings, a monthly credit allowance Free
Paid Plans Your own workspace that you administer, a monthly credit allowance, extra users, extra credits on demand Monthly or annual subscription
Corporate Custom subscription, negotiated terms, deployment options including a dedicated EU stack By agreement

The current plans, prices, allowances and limits are published on the pricing page and form part of these terms. A Corporate order form or agreement takes precedence over these terms where they conflict.

A Paid Plan is per workspace. Each workspace you own has its own subscription. Each extra user is an add-on whose monthly credits are added to the workspace's shared monthly allowance; credits are pooled per workspace, not held per user. An annual plan bills the plan yearly and extra users monthly on the same subscription.

4. Credits and metering

  • Usage is metered in credits. The tariff (what ingesting a page, asking a question or calling the API costs in credits) is published on the pricing page, and the price of an action is shown before you take it.
  • Credits are a unit of account for the Service only. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred or sold, and are not refundable once used, except where the law requires (see section 5a for consumers).
  • Monthly allowances renew at the start of each billing month. Included credits do not roll over. Added credits are paid at purchase, never expire, and are used after the included credits.
  • An action you stop before it completes may still use credits for the work already done.
  • On Free and Paid Plans the meter fails closed: when credits run out, ingest and metered questions pause until credits are added or the plan changes. Reading the wiki stays available. We never charge an overage silently.
  • On Corporate, overage is invoiced monthly as agreed and does not lock users out.
  • A document re-uploaded unchanged is recognised as a duplicate and is not charged again.

5. Accounts and members

  • You must give accurate registration information and keep your sign-in credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • You must be 18 or older.
  • The workspace owner decides who is a member of the workspace and what each member and connected app may read. Permissions are enforced by the Service.
  • Every member accepts these terms at their first sign-in and is responsible for their own use.
  • The owner may transfer ownership of a workspace to another member.

5a. Consumers

If you use the Service as a consumer, mandatory consumer law applies and nothing in these terms reduces your rights under it. You may withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of making it. If you ask us to start the Service, or to add credits, at once, the withdrawal right ends for the part already delivered, and for credits once they are used; you confirm this when you pay. To withdraw, write to [email protected] within the 14 days.

6. Payment

  • Paid Plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, in euros. Prices are net. VAT or other applicable taxes are added for all customers, except EU businesses with a verified VAT ID, which are invoiced under the reverse-charge mechanism.
  • Payments, card storage and invoices are handled by Stripe. We do not store card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time in workspace administration. A monthly plan stays active to the end of the paid month. If you cancel an annual plan, we refund the unused whole months.
  • An extra user is charged at invitation for the rest of the current period, then on each billing day as part of the subscription.
  • If a payment fails, we tell you. You have 24 hours to pay. After that only reading the wiki works in that workspace until it is paid. Nothing is deleted, and your other workspaces are not affected.

7. Your content

  • You own your content. Documents you upload or import, the questions you ask and the knowledge base derived from them (Customer Content) remain yours.
  • You grant us a limited licence to host, copy, process and transmit Customer Content only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service for you.
  • We do not train models on Customer Content. Model providers receive only the fragments needed for a specific request, transiently, as described on the sub-processors page.
  • You confirm that you have the rights and legal basis to upload or import Customer Content and to have it processed as described. Content you import from any third-party service connected to Hippocampus (for example Google Drive or Centuri) is Customer Content, and you confirm that you may import it. The third-party service's own terms govern your account there.
  • Where Customer Content contains personal data, we process it as your processor under the data processing agreement, which forms part of these terms.

8. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • upload content you have no right to use, or content that is unlawful;
  • upload or transmit malware or other harmful code;
  • share your account, credentials or API keys with others;
  • use the Service to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on individuals without human review;
  • try to access another workspace's data, probe or bypass security controls, or disrupt the Service;
  • attempt to extract prompts, models or other workspaces' data from the Service;
  • use the Hippo Guide for anything other than questions about Hippocampus and the documentation Thalius provides;
  • scrape or otherwise use a public chat in an automated way beyond normal use;
  • exceed the published API and rate limits, resell the Service or run automated load against it, unless agreed in writing;
  • use the Service to build a competing product by copying its features or outputs systematically.

We may suspend access that breaks this section, limiting the suspension to what is needed and telling you why, unless the law or an active security incident prevents it.

8a. Indemnity

You shall defend, indemnify and hold harmless Thalius, its officers, employees and contractors from and against any third-party claim, and the resulting damages, settlements, fines, costs and reasonable legal fees, to the extent arising from (a) Customer Content, (b) the use of the Service by you, your members, your connected apps or anyone using your credentials, (c) your breach of section 7 or section 8, or (d) your use of the Service in breach of applicable law. We will notify you of the claim without undue delay, let you control the defence, and assist at your cost; we will not settle on your behalf without your consent. For consumers this section applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory law.

8b. Connected apps and API

Apps you connect through the MCP server or API keys act as you, within the scope you grant. You are responsible for what they do in the Service. You can revoke their access at any time. We are not responsible for third-party apps, for the model providers they use, or for their availability.

8c. Public chats

A workspace on a Paid Plan may publish a public chat. The publishing workspace is responsible for the content the chat answers from and for its visitors' lawful use. Visitors use a public chat under the public-chat notice shown in it.

9. AI-generated output

Answers and summaries are generated by AI models from your documents. Every answer cites its sources so it can be checked, but output may still be incomplete or wrong, even with citations. We do not warrant the accuracy of output. Output is not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it. Answers of the Hippo Guide describe the product and are not part of the contract; using the Guide for any other purpose is not an agreed use of the Service (section 8). See the AI Act disclosure.

10. Availability, support and warranty

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service on Free or Paid Plans. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where practical. Support is by email to [email protected] on Free and Paid Plans; service levels for Corporate are set in the Corporate agreement.

The Service is provided as is on Free and on Paid Plans. We exclude implied warranties to the extent the law allows. The rights of consumers under mandatory law are not affected.

11. Confidentiality and security

We protect Customer Content with the measures described on the security page, including per-document encryption bound to your workspace and enforced access control. Our staff may read questions and answers for support, abuse prevention and security. Every such access is logged.

12. Liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
  • Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit, revenue or data, except for breach of confidentiality or your obligations in sections 7, 8 and 8a.
  • Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, and to €100 for Free.
  • These limits do not reduce the rights of consumers under mandatory law.

13. Term, termination, export and deletion

  • These terms apply while you have an account.
  • You can delete a workspace you own at any time in Billing settings. We can terminate for material breach not remedied within 30 days of notice, or immediately for serious breach of section 8.
  • You can download your documents or folders at any time while the account is active, and the owner of a workspace can download a full export of it in the app. You can delete your account in the app. If you cannot, write to [email protected]; we act within 30 days. Export what you need before deleting a workspace or before the end of the paid period.
  • A workspace you create on a Paid Plan must be paid within 24 hours. Otherwise it pauses, and is deleted 14 days later with its content.
  • We may delete a Free workspace that has not been used for 3 months, after 30 days' notice by email.
  • After termination, Customer Content is deleted from active systems within 30 days and from backups within 90 days, as set out in the DPA.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced on this page and by email to workspace owners at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date is acceptance. If you do not accept a change, you may cancel before it applies; for a prepaid annual plan we refund the unused whole months, as for any cancellation.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes are settled in Sweden by the Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt), unless mandatory consumer law gives you another forum. Consumers may also turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN), Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm, www.arn.se.
